FAQ

I haven’t worked out before, or I usually just do some cardio work at the gym. Is your studio for me?

Yes, absolutely. We’ll teach you how to do all the exercise and support you along the way. You’ll never feel like you’re working out alone when you’re in our studio. And if you don’t know something, just ask. We’re here to help you reach your goals.

What type of clients do you serve?

We only focus on what we’re good at. Our clients generally have goals of: Weight loss, Toning, General Fitness and Increasing Lean Muscle Mass.

I’m a bodybuilder. Can you help me get huge?

Sorry dude, no. That’s not what we do here.

What kind of workout would I be doing?

We do resistance training here; in other words, we lift weights or use some form of resistance to help build lean muscle. But we do it a way that promotes overall fitness, not just the growth of bodybuilder-like muscle.

Will lifting weights make me bulky?

No, that’s not how do it here at Motiv.  The way we lift wights at Motiv will make you leaner and stronger, not bulky.

Do you do a Fitness Assessment with your new clients?

We don’t call your first visit a “Fitness Assessment” for a number of reasons: 1) At many fitness places, the “fitness assessment” is just a glorified sales pitch where the salesperson/trainer will tell you how badly you need to improve–something that you probably already know. 2) During your test-drive workout, we are assessing your flexibly, strength and conditioning (we use this system if you are curious), but the results of our assessment really only make sense to us and are used for determining the exercises we program for you.  Besides, who like to have their body graded? 3) Rather than spend a whole hour measuring you (which we could do if we wanted), we think it is better to give you a workout so you know that types of exercises you will be doing if you join Motiv.

Is Motiv a franchise?

No, we are owner-operated small business. Thank you in advance for “shopping local” and keeping your money in your community!

Workouts and Scheduling

How long are your workouts?

Our coaching sessions are about 45 minutes long, including a warm-up. We realize your schedule is busy so we want to make working out as efficient as it can be. We believe you can get a great workout in this amount of time. If you don’t believe us, we’ll be happy to show you.

How do I book my sessions?

The best way is by using our online scheduling system.  Or you could email us or call us.

I travel a lot or my commitments change from week to week. Could your schedule accommodate me?

We hope so. With our online scheduling system, you are not locked into a particular time slot or a particular trainer. You can choose to schedule your sessions for any time slot we are open – so you can work around your schedule – not ours.

What are your hours? Are you closed in the afternoon?

We aren’t open all day: we are open weekdays in the mornings (5:15am to 10:30am) and evenings (5:00pm to 8:00pm). On Saturday, we are open from 7:30am to noon. We are closed on Sunday.

We are closed in the afternoon.

What if I can’t use all my sessions in a given week?

We realize you won’t always be able to use all your sessions every week, so we priced our packages to take that into account.  Unfortunately, you will not be able to “roll over” your sessions from one week to the next.

What happens if I’m sick or can’t make a session because of being stuck at work?

You can now cancel an appointment up to 12 hours before it starts without penalty.  If you do not cancel an appointment 12 hours in advance or do not show up for an appointment for any reason—including illness – that session will be treated as a “late cancel.”

Notice Penalty
More than 12 hours Notice No Charge – You may reschedule that session
Less than 12 hours Notice Late Cancel – Loss of session and deep shame

If an appointment is treated as a “late cancel,” you will not be able to reschedule that session later in the week.

If you late cancel an appointment and another client takes your place, for example, off of a waitlist, you will not be charged with a late cancel.

What’s to prevent me from scheduling a bunch of sessions way out in the future and then just not showing up?

To encourage fair scheduling of appointments among all our clients, if you have more than 2 “late cancels” in a calendar month, we may supsend your online scheduling access for a period of time. You’d still be able to book, but you’d have to call us to do so.

Can I suspend my account?

You can suspend your account if you become injured or have a medical condtion that prevents you from working out.  All you need to do is bring in a note from your physican and we’ll suspend your training for a minium of 30 days up to a maximum of 120 days.

Sorry, but we cannot suspend your membership if you are out of town or going on vacation. We suggest you add an extra workout or two in the weeks before and after your trip. Because if you aren’t in here working out, you aren’t going to get results.

Will my contract automatically renew?

No. We will ask you if you want to renew for another 3 or 12 month period. We’ll need a response from you before we do anything.

Will I have to sign a contract? Can I read it before I come in for my test drive to save time?

Yes. Please click here to review the contract.

What will I owe if I join today?

We will bill your credit or debit card monthly for your training. On the day you join Motiv, we will charge you the $59 Joining Fee.  Your first monthly payment will be due in 30 days, and then every month thereafter until the end of your membership term.

Do you have any specials?
