motiv introduces calorieking

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

This is not the big news, btw.

But I am very pleased to introduce CalorieKing to all our clients.

Calorie King is an online weight-control program that is easy to use. The program features:

  • The CalorieKing Guided Program that helps you build the habits you need to achieve your weight management goals
  • Food & Exercise Diary with drag-and-drop, incorporating an industry leading food database
  • Easy to follow meal plans
  • Practical real world advice to help you achieve your goals
  • Friendly support any time of day or night from the active online community

Any weight loss program has 2 parts: nutrition and exercise. Obviously, we handle the exercise part pretty well in the studio and with our workout plans for outside the studio. But nutrition is equally important. We think Calorie King is just the right program to you help you achieve the nutrition part of your weight loss goals.

The Most Important Number

To lose weight, you need to know your most important number: how many calories you eat every day. To lose weight, you must make sure your calories in – what you eat – are less than your calories out – what you burn off every day. It’s very simple, but it is kinda a pain to do. CalorieKing can help you find a good target number for you and make it easy to track on a daily basis.

Now, this is not a free, internet program. There are plenty of them, but few good ones. However, we are pleased to offer CalorieKing to our clients for 35% off of online price. Just let us know in the studio, and we’ll get you signed up.

don’t eat the halloween candy (especially before halloween)

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

There is a reason I don’t keep certain foods in the house: I eat them. And quickly. For example, I love ice cream. So, I don’t keep ice cream in the house. Candy is another one. But at Halloween time, you kinda have to have candy in the house.

What to do? Don’t buy candy that tempts you. I love Snickers bars. So, why would I buy Snickers bars and put them in my house? If they are here, I’ll be tempted and eat them. So I buy candy that doesn’t tempt me: Lollipops. Kinda hard (but not impossible) to binge on lollipops. Little kids love lollipops. So they are still a great treat to give out. But I am not “tricked” into eating them.

Don’t be “tricked” into extra, empty calories.

easy weeknight dinners

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

What’s for dinner? Have no time and have run out of ideas?

At our house, we have a quick, healthy short-cut that we rely on at least a couples times a week.

We rely on Schwan Frozen Chicken Breasts. These individually packaged, frozen filets are perfect for a last minute meal. They are the perfect size (4oz) and come trimmed of all fat. Yes, all the fat. They are ready to use out of the bag (unlike other “pre-trimmed” filets you buy at Jewel). Add a tiny bit of olive oil, some spices (for example, this) and pop them onto the grill and you’re eating in 15 minutes. With some frozen broccoli and a salad, you have a great full meal.

Of course, you can only get these via home delivery from Schwan. If you come from a smaller town in the Midwest, you probably are familiar with the Schwann Trucks. They now are delivering in Chicago. Order your food online at Schwan.com. It is worth it.
